What Is the Cowgarage

The Cowgarage is a web gallery featuring a wide ranging collection of photo-essays, photographs, and  "photo/word poems."

The name comes from my immigrant Italian family history. In the old country of Italy, for most rural Italians, a cow was a must.  In this country, during the depression, it also become a necessity here.

Despite their new life in a Lorain, Ohio neighborhood, the newly immigrated Imbrogno family still kept a cow. They didn’t have a barn. They did have a garage.  That’s where the cow lived. Each  morning, on his way to school, my father would take the cow to the edge of the airport and  stake her out to graze.  On his way home he would pick her up and take her home to the Cowgarage.
